Spooky Doorway

Spooky Doorway is a trio of Irish developers who make small adventure games with a focus on light-hearted and caring narratives.

The Darkside Detective is rated ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ on Steam and they have won a few awards and landed some grants, which makes them feel like big fish.

Paul, the CEO, handles the art and most of the business side of things;
Treasa is lead programmer, scrum mistress and co-designer;
Dave co-designs, writes and does some low-level dev work.

And, unlike The Beatles, we get by with a lot of help from our friends:

Thanks to every one of the above (and anyone we missed…) for all the help and support over the years – here’s to many more!

The Darkside Detective

Where darkness dwells and evil rents at extortionate rates.

The Darkside Detective is a multi-award winning comedy point-and-click adventure game, following Detective Francis McQueen as he tries to rights the wrongs of Twin Lakes city. Oh, so many wrongs.

The game follows in the footsteps of classic 80s and 90s games, but includes a number of innovations to update it for a modern audience. The most notable of these is the structure which follows a monster-of-the-week format presenting the player with a series of smaller stories rather than one longer one, making it perfect for time-poor players.

Season 1 launched with 6 cases on July 27th 2017. 3 new cases were added between then and July 27th 2018, the last case wrapping Season 1 and setting up the premise for Season 2, which was successfully kickstarted on 12th October.

Season 1 can be purchased and Season wishlisted over on Steam:

Alternatively other storefronts and more info on both seasons, can be found on the game’s dedicated website, facebook or twitter.

Sunken Spectre

The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.

– Jacques Cousteau

Sunken Spectre is a deep-sea adventure game that takes place in and around the Mediterranean Sea in the 1970s.

Players take on the role of Jac Moore, captain of a small deep-sea recovery vessel. After turning her back on a life of crime, Jac purchased an old scuttled boat called The Spectre which she repaired to make seaworthy again.

Jac gathered a rag-tag crew, they formed their own diving operation and now dive for clients all over the globe. For the right price, the crew of the Spectre will retrieve whatever you need from the bottom of the ocean (regardless of the legalities involved…)

No job is too far, too deep or too dangerous.

The game is early in development and will be launching on PC, X Box, Playstation and Switch in the future!
